Thirteen fillies and mares have been confirmed in the final field for Saturday’s 2016 Group 2 Tristarc Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield; offering punters exceptional value from a betting perspective and several key opportunities to place a winning wager.
Tycoon Tara has found career-best form through four starts this time and remains a clear $2.70 favourite in 2016 Tristarc Stakes betting markets with Ladbrokes.com.au, ahead of Danish Twist ($4.50) and First Seal ($7).
Will Tycoon Tara continue her winning form through the Tristarc Stakes 2016, or will one of her rivals post an upset?
First Seal ($7)
First Seal is sure to have taken plenty of benefit from her first-up run for fifth in the Group 2 Golden Pendant (1400m) three weeks ago and should be ready to fire in the Tristarc Stakes. A Group 1 winner having taken out the 2014 edition of the Flight Stakes (1600m), the Fastnet Rock mare resumed this year for success in the Group 2 Millie Fox Stakes (1300m) before placing a close second in the Group 1 Canterbury Stakes (1300m) on March 5th. Running fourth in the Group 1 George Ryder Stakes (1500m) before failing to fire in the Doncaster Mile, First Seal will be partnered by Blake Shinn this weekend and should receive a good run in transit from barrier 8.
Tycoon Tara ($2.70)
Tycoon Tara should have no issue finding the pace from barrier 3, but was probably at her peak in the Golden Pendant three weeks ago and likely has not improved from the impressive win. Given little chance of success in the Group 2 Missile Stakes (1200m) first-up this time, the Written Tycoon mare never appeared in doubt and comfortably beat a classy, albeit small field to the line. Repeating the dose in the Group 3 Show County Quality (1200m), Tycoon Tara placed fourth in the Group 3 Theo Marks Stakes (1300m) in her only other start prior to the Golden Pendant this time.
Danish Twist ($4.50)
Danish Twist has been a standout for Kris Lees this year and should relish a return to fillies and mares’ company in the Tristarc Stakes 2016. Charging home to win the Provincial Championships Final (1400m) on April 9th, Danish Twist progressed to consecutive wins in the Group 3 Dark Jewel Classic (1400m) and Listed June Stakes (1100m) most notably. Running on well for third in the Group 2 Premiere Stakes (1200m) a fortnight ago, Danish Twist will be partnered by champion hoop Damien Oliver in the Tristarc Stakes but has been charged with overcoming the outside barrier.
