Thirteen fillies have mares have been confirmed in the 2016 Tristarc Stakes final field; highlighted by the inclusion of some of the Spring Carnival’s most exciting prospects, and horses targeting the Group 1 Myer Classic (1600m) on Derby Day.
Tycoon Tara has returned to racing in career-best form this time and has drawn ideally into the Tristarc Stakes field 2016 in barrier 3.
Tycoon Tara stamped herself as a standout mare upon beginning her career under the care of Simon Wilde, but has undoubtedly stepped up in class since her arrival at Team Snowden’s base this season.
Winning the Group 2 Missile Stakes (1200m) first-up this time, the Written Tycoon mare repeated the dose in the Group 3 Show County Quality (1200m) before finishing a credible fourth in the Group 2 Theo Marks Stakes (1300m).
Having returned to winning form in the Group 2 Golden Pendant (1400m) on September 24th, Tycoon Tara will have no issue finding the pace early from her draw in the Tristarc Stakes.
Group 1 winner First Seal is sure to have taken plenty of benefit from her first-up run for fifth in the Golden Pendant, and will leave from barrier 8 in the Tristarc Stakes 2016.
Beating Winx to the line in the 2014 edition of the Group 1 Flight Stakes (1600m), First Seal returned to racing this year for an impressive win in the Group 2 Millie Fox Stakes (1300m) at Rosehill on February 20th.
Progressing to second behind Holler in the Group 1 Canterbury Stakes (1300m), the daughter of Fastnet Rock ran fourth in the Group 1 George Ryder Stakes (1500m) before a lacklustre performance for 12th in the Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m) on Day 1 of The Championships.
Danish Twist has returned to racing in typically competitive form this time, but will require luck second-up on Saturday after drawing into the 2016 Tristarc Stakes field in the outside barrier.
Winner of the Provincial Championships Final (1400m) on Day 2 of The Championships, Danish Twist continued her unbeaten run of form through all of the Ladies Day Cup (1300m), Group 3 Dark Jewel Classic (1400m) and Listed June Stakes (1100m).
Having clearly had enough by the time she finished eighth in the Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara (1400m) on June 25th, the Dane Shadow mare ran on for third in the Group 2 Premiere Stakes (1200m) a fortnight ago and will enjoy a step up in distance and return to fillies and mares’ company.
French Emotion returned to winning form a fortnight ago and has the notable advantage of Hugh Bowman in the saddle for the Tristarc Stakes 2016.
Requiring a couple of runs to find form upon resuming this time, French Emotion ran second behind Alaskan Rose in the MRC Foundation BM90 (1400m) on September 17th before taking out the Group 2 Blazer Stakes (1400m) last time out.
