The Group 2 Tristarc Stakes is set to run at Caulfield Racecourse on Saturday October 19, 2013.
The race takes place over a distance of 1,400 metres and is worth $220,000 in prize money.
The 2013 Tristarc Stakes is run under set weight plus penalty conditions and is open to mares ages four-years-old and upwards.
Scheduled as part of Caulfield Cup Day, the race shares its program with the Group 1 Caulfield Cup, Group 2 Caulfield Sprint, Group 3 David Jones Cup, Group 3 Norman Robinson Stakes, Group 3 Moonga Stakes, Listed Gothic Stakes, Listed Ethereal Stakes and Listed Alinghi Stakes.
Xanadu will use the 2013 Tristarc Stakes as her final lead-up race going into the Group 1 Myer Classic.
The five-year-old mare has won five of her 16 race starts and has earned more than $330,000 in prize money.
Xanadu won the Group 1 NZ Thoroughbred Breeder’s Stakes in April and will look to continue that success in Australia this spring.
Trainer Ken Kelso believes she is in top shape going into her upcoming spring campaign.
“I am pleased with the way she has come up and we will follow the same path that we did last year, before ending up in Melbourne,” Ken Kelso told TVN.
“There is a nice fillies’ and mares race over 1400 metres at Caulfield (Tristarc) that will lead nicely into the Myer.”
