Champion mares Hot Danish and Palacio De Cristal will face off at Caulfield Racecourse this Saturday when they contest the $180,000 Group 2 Tristarc Stakes (1400m) on Caulfield Cup Day.
Equal top-weights set to carry 57.5kg, Hot Danish and Palacio De Cristal will dominate the betting markets open on the 2010 Tristarc Stakes at Ladbrokes.com.au as both are coming off great spring form.
Last year Hot Danish was the beaten favourite in the 2009 Tristarc Stakes finishing a close second to Typhoon Tracy.
Les Bridges’ dual Group 1 winner, Hot Danish has won both of her spring starts this season with victories in the Premiere Stakes and The Shorts but has drawn wide with barrier 12 for Saturday.
The Grahame Begg-trained Palacio De Cristal, on the other hand, has drawn ideally for their second-up start in the Tristarc set to jump from barrier three with Dwayne Dunn aboard.
In her debut run for the season, Palacio De Cristal took out the Blazer Stakes (1400m) at Flemington ahead of No Evidence Needed, however she will be forced to carry an extra 2 kilos on Saturday.
No Evidence Needed is also set to run in the Tristarc, the consistent John Thompson-trained Shamardal four-year-old another star mare this spring.
After winning the Let’s Elope Stakes at Flemington, No Evidence Needed finished second to Response in the Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes at Caulfield before her last-start runner-up in the Blazer Stakes.
She has also drawn poorly for Saturday with barrier 14, her widest starting gate this season.
Other quality mares in the Tristarc Stakes field this year include I’m A Hussy, Live In Sin and Montana Flyer who all look good Place chances.
Leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au is set to open their betting markets on the 2010 Tirstarc Stakes shortly, so stay tuned for our betting preview and tips!
