This Saturday Caulfield Cup Day will take place at Caulfield Racecourse featuring a bumper line-up of Group races including the $180,000 Group 2 Tristarc Stakes (1400m).
The 2010 Harrolds Tristarc Stakes nominations, taken today, has attracted 25 top mares lead by star seven-year-old Hot Danish.
Sure to dominate the betting markets at Sportsbet, the Les Bridge-trained Hot Danish was a dual Group 1 winner last season and has made a stunning return to racing this spring.
Hot Danish will start the favourite in the Tristarc Stakes and for the best odds on her sign up with SportsBet!
Coming off back-to-back victories in the Premiere Stakes and The Shorts, Saturday will be Hot Danish’s first Melbourne start for the spring but in red-hot form she will start the clear favourite if accepted.
Other classy mares nominated for the Tristarc Stakes that will be up the top end of the betting include Peter Moody’s consistent five-year-old Live In Sin, Listed Angst Stakes winner Lovemelikearock and No Evidence Needed.
The John Thompson-trained Shamardal mare No Evidence Needed has been in brilliant form this spring.
She won the Let’s Elope Stakes back on September 9 before finishing second in the Rupert Clark Stakes and Blazer Stakes, making her Hot Danish’s biggest threat in the Tristarc.
The Grahame Begg-trained Palacio De Cristal is the other mare with serious claims on Saturday having resumed for the season with a first-up win over No Evidence Needed in the Blazer Stakes at Flemington on October 3.
The Clarry Conners-trained Dorf Command, Mark Kavanagh’s How Now Stakes winner Valentine Miss and I’m A Hussy are among the other notable entries vying for a spot in the 16-horse Tristarc Stakes final field for Saturday.
The headline race at the Caulfield meeting is the $2.5 million Group 1 Caulfield Cup (2400m) where Alcopop is likely to start the favourite following an impressive second to So You Think in last Saturday’s Yalumba Stakes.
Other feature races on the card worth a punt on include the Group 2 Caulfield Sprint (1100m) and the Group 3 David Jones Cup (2000m).
The Tristarc Stakes final field of acceptors will be released later in the week and published here along with a detailed race and betting preview, so bookmark this site.
